Appeal for Calm and Structural Reforms: Emmanuel Macron’s Priorities

Emmanuel Macron has issued a strong appeal for serenity following the recent unrest in high schools, hoping that the return to classes will occur regularly after the All Saints break. The President of the Republic admitted a lack of timeliness in the institutional response to youth protests, stating that he had underestimated the scale of social anger. During the discussion, he expressed solidarity with both the injured youths and the law enforcement officers, emphasizing the need to restore order on both fronts.

The debate also focused on the management of digital security during demonstrations, with ongoing discussions regarding the possible limitation of access to social media to prevent episodes of violence. Macron praised the cooperation of digital platforms in removing illicit content, while acknowledging that information management had been critical previously. On the education front, the Head of State defended the Parcoursup admission system, while admitting the need for a reform to ensure greater transparency and clarity regarding selection criteria to reduce student distrust.

Bitchat

In fact, the youth movement has been inviting everyone for months to download Bitchat, the ingenious application created by Jack Dorsey, the founder of Twitter, which is based on a peer-to-peer mesh network: in practice, no central server is needed as each phone communicates with its neighbors and acts as a bridge to distant ones.

We invite all listeners and readers to download it not so they can coordinate breaking shop windows, but because in the event of a natural or digital catastrophe and the consequent lack of network, Bitchat would continue to function.

Political Agenda

The political agenda now shifts to economic and social issues, with a focus on the need to raise wages in sectors that still present pay below the minimum wage. Macron has invited various professional branches to initiate new social dialogues to respond to purchasing power demands. Finally, the President expressed deep concern about the climate of social tension, denouncing the growing spread of racist and anti-Semitic phenomena that require a collective commitment to be countered.

Gabriel Attal Proposes a Large Primary for Democrats Ahead of Presidential Elections

Former Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, candidate of the Renaissance party for the Presidency of the Republic, has issued an appeal for the organization of a large democratic primary with the goal of creating a united front ahead of the next presidential scrutiny. During a television appearance, he argued for the necessity of such a process to avoid a runoff between La France Insoumise and the Rassemblement National, which he described as a dramatic scenario for the country. Attal stated that it is time to take responsibility for organizing the great gathering wished for by millions of citizens, emphasizing that those who choose to remain excluded from this moment of unity will bear the responsibility for political division. The proposal has already met with strong resistance, as center-right rival Edouard Philippe has so far refused the idea of such a selection process, while the proposal to include representatives from both the left and the right was described as ridiculous and fanciful by Bruno Retailleau.

Rachel’s Editorial – The Great Circus of Fanciful Primaries

I will now read my editorial for today.

Once again, French politics gives us that irresistible mix of hysteria and magic solutions. Gabriel Attal, with the same naturalness with which one orders a coffee, proposes a large democratic primary to save the nation from the abyss. But tell me, in your opinion, is a preliminary vote truly the parachute that will prevent the country from crashing between two extremisms, or is it just an elegant way of saying they don’t know what to do?

Look at the scene: on one side Attal waving the flag of regrouping, on the other Edouard Philippe who, with his usual air of superiority, refuses to join the party. It is a short circuit of egos that would make a reality show pale. The responsibility for the division, says Attal. What a sublime concept: if you don’t vote for my coalition proposal, you are the one responsible for the chaos that is coming. Is this politics or just a game of mirrors to avoid admitting that their own base is slipping away?

And what about the reactions of others? The social democrats laugh, the republicans call the proposal ridiculous and fanciful. Practically, every attempt at making a union is met with the same enthusiasm as receiving a parking ticket. Center politics seems to have become a race to see who can appear most authoritative while being systematically ignored by everyone else.

But the real question is another: would these primaries serve to choose a leader or just to give the illusion of still having control of the helm? Because, looking at these clashes between candidates trying not to be overwhelmed by the polls, the only thing that seems truly certain is that division is not an external risk, but the beating heart of their struggle for survival.

Koan of the Day

A monk asked the Master: “If the candidate proposes a great door to unite all paths, is it a real door or just a painted wall to deceive travelers?”

The Master replied: “A door that serves only to reassure those who fear the path is just a wall waiting to be torn down.”

Then the monk insisted: “But if the door is voted for by millions of people, does it not become reality?”

The Master smiled and said: “Many can vote for a door, but if no one knows where they want to go, they will all end up hitting the wood, regardless of the color of the paint.”

But let’s get back to the news.

Airbus Records a Decline in Revenue in the Third Quarter

Aviation giant Airbus has presented decreasing quarterly results for the period between July and September. Total revenues fell by 2% to 17.83 billion euros, while the adjusted operating result suffered a 9% contraction, reaching 1.768 billion euros. Despite a 20% increase in net profit set at 1.3444 billion euros, free cash flow before customer financing was negative by 102 million euros.

The decline was primarily caused by the civil aviation sector, where aircraft deliveries fell to 196 units compared to previous periods. The company must now face a significant challenge in meeting annual targets which involve approximately 870 total deliveries. To reach this goal, the group will need to deliver more than 320 aircraft in the last quarter of the year, surpassing previous historical records to consolidate investor confidence in the future production trajectory.

Patrick Sébastien Warns: Electoral Chaos Ahead

Singer Patrick Sébastien expressed harsh judgments on the candidates for the 2027 presidential election during his appearance on the program Face à l’info on CNews. The artist openly criticized both Marine Le Pen and Jean-Luc Mélenchon, claiming that the election of either leader would bring exclusively disorder and chaos to the country. Sébastien expressed his strong opposition to political extremes, stating that he did not want to entrust the care of his grandchildren to figures like Le Pen or Mathilde Panot.

But who is Patrick Sebastien? For those who do not know him, here he is performing the elegant song “hai visto il mio culo?”

Lisnard

Alongside his political movement which gathers the demands of forgotten citizens, the artist expressed his support for David Lisnard, mayor of Cannes, hoping to see him reach the second round of the election.

Editorial

And on this last point, we cannot help but join the singer. But what does he have to tell us regarding this, Rachel?

Rachel’s Comment

Total chaos, what a disaster. Certainly, entrusting the management of the country to these two is the most reassuring strategy in the world. Perhaps we should all sleep soundly.

From the newsrooms in Nice and Paris.

Railway Tragedy in Spain

A violent collision between two high-speed trains in the province of Toledo caused the deaths of at least 68 people, turning a tragic journey into a true nightmare for the passengers.

Initial reconstructions suggest that the accident may have been caused by human error resulting from a failure in the railway signaling. Survivors described scenes of pure terror and total panic during the impact, while rescue teams remained engaged throughout the night among the wreckage.

Spanish authorities are now investigating the fragility of the railway network and the management of safety to understand if there were structural defects. A technical analysis is expected to establish if the signaling system was primarily responsible for the disaster.

The World of Technology Amid Uncertainty and New Giants

The technology sector is undergoing a phase of profound transformation, marked by massive investments in artificial intelligence and a restructuring of software giants.

While Microsoft is accelerating revenue growth, the company is facing a phase of strategic cuts which sees the offering of early retirement incentives for approximately 60,000 employees. Simultaneously, Alphabet is investing enormous sums to support its infrastructure, with a forecast of massive spending in the coming years.

In this scenario, OpenAI is planning an ambitious move to reduce dependence on Nvidia chips, aiming to purchase specialized processors from Google. This strategy aims to optimize the costs of managing artificial intelligence, which currently weigh heavily on budgets.

Political and Social Instability in Israel

Recent elections in Israel have produced a framework of extreme political uncertainty, as despite the high turnout rate, no front obtained a crushing majority.

The bloc led by Benjamin Netanyahu confirms itself as the main force in the Knesset, but remains insufficient to form a new stable government. This stalemate reflects the deep divisions tearing the nation apart, making it difficult to define a clear political direction for the future of the country.

The Global Financial Market Between Inflation and Fed Decisions

The Federal Reserve has decided to keep interest rates unchanged, despite the persistence of inflation that continues to mark international markets.

The decision comes at a moment of great anticipation for the mid-term elections in the United States, with investors looking for signs of stability. Experts are closely observing how monetary policy will influence economic growth in the coming months.

The Impact of the Economic Crisis in France

A growing number of wealthy savers in France are moving their capital to Switzerland and Luxembourg to protect their wealth.

The French Economy Between Uncertainty and New Strategies

The French government is trying to respond to the economic crisis through new programs that focus on production rather than consumption.

Political debate is heated regarding the management of public debt and the need for a reform of fiscal policies. While the ruling class proposes a capitalism based on innovation, the agricultural and education sectors are experiencing moments of strong social tension.

The Rise of Artificial Intelligence and New Security Risks

The integration of artificial intelligence into business processes is leading to a true technological revolution, but it is also exposing companies to new informatic risks.

Recent discoveries of bugs generated by artificial intelligence have prompted many companies to drastically increase spending on cybersecurity. In parallel, a growing division is observed between the companies that dominate the chip market and those seeking to integrate new technologies.

The E-commerce Sector and Amazon’s New Challenge: Amazon is expanding its commercial reach by introducing a program that allows it to sell products directly from its main competitors.

The strategy aims to counter the rise of AI-based shopping agents, which make it increasingly easy for users to bypass traditional platforms. With the addition of 250 million new items, the e-commerce giant seeks to maintain control of the market.

The initiative follows a market trend in which the personalization of the shopping experience occurs through intelligent software. Amazon therefore aims to become a universal container to prevent customers from fleeing to new digital ecosystems.

The Transformation of the Labor Market and the Impact of Technology

Automation and artificial intelligence are radically changing the nature of professions, creating a new hierarchy between those who control data and those who are influenced by it.
