Archie and Lilibet, the two young members of the family, will have to resume British schooling starting in September. Harry and Meghan’s return coincides with their decision to provide a traditional education for the children, removing them from the American calendar.

Sovereign Charles III was informed of the move only last Sunday, August 16, as were Prince William and Duchess Kate Middleton. Despite geographic proximity, the return will not entail the resumption of royal duties by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

I will now read you my editorial of the day. Incredible that the BBC opened the prestigious World Service news bulletin precisely with this story. So, naturally, we at FranceToday are almost obliged to report it, with the caveat that we hardly care at all.
What a drama this was! Harry and Meghan, after more than six years of “American conquest”, decide to return to England as if it were a summer vacation back to the nest. Is it really the “coup de théâtre” we were all waiting for or just an attempt to fill the void left by Netflix and Spotify? If their lives were a reality show, we would have already passed the final season.
Yet the French press flails about waving details as if they were revelations from space. A private residence near London? A return that entails no more royal duties? Yes, because it’s yet another twist from a royal family that never stops producing sensational headlines, while the rest of the world grapples with genuine crises.
While the media scale the mountain of the fleeting, we ask: do we really want another episode of “the Sussex return home”? The answer is, to put it mildly… not particularly. And so, with a sarcastic smile, I leave you to reflect on the fact that royal dignity seems to lose more value than a subscription to a discontinued streaming service.
