Terror and chaos in the Toulouse area. A violent attack struck the Marie-Louise Dissard high school in Tournefeuille, triggering a fire that required a massive intervention by firefighters. The incident occurred Thursday morning around seven forty-five, when a group of hooded individuals stormed the institution.

Images circulating on social media show the dramatic scene: the perpetrators fired fireworks mortars inside the school complex. The flames then spread rapidly through the area dedicated to school life, located in the building’s main atrium. The entire structure was immediately evacuated to ensure student safety.

A coordinated and violent assault

According to initial reports provided by the Haute-Garonne prefecture, approximately thirty people invaded the high school area. This was not just an act of vandalism, but an action that also heavily struck the rescue forces. The firefighters, engaged in battling the flames, were indeed targeted by firework mortar shells while attempting to extinguish the fire.

In addition to the fire, attempts to steal equipment were reported. Law enforcement intervened promptly to disperse the crowd and proceed with initial arrests, although the exact number of suspects detained has not yet been officially released. Fortunately, despite the violence of the assault, no injuries were reported among students and staff.

Enormous damage and ongoing investigation

The material damage is extremely heavy. One room was completely destroyed by the heat and black smoke. Kamel Chibli, vice-president of the Occitanie region, rushed to the scene to assess the extent of the disaster and denounced a deliberate intent to destroy the entire school. The region has already communicated its intention to file a lawsuit against those responsible.

While cleaning crews begin the initial work of removing debris, uncertainty remains regarding the reopening date of the institution. To support the school community, a psychological support unit has been established. The rector of the Toulouse Academy described the event as an unqualifiable and scandalous attack, emphasizing the gravity of a violence that is shaking the entire region.
